New insulin injection map may reduce painful lumps and boost blood sugar control

NCT ID NCT07375875

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tested a new tool—a digital or paper map of insulin injection sites—to help people with diabetes avoid skin lumps (lipohypertrophy) and improve their blood sugar control. 170 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who had been using insulin for at least six months took part. The map guided them on where to inject and how to rotate sites, and the researchers tracked whether it reduced lumps, improved injection habits, and made diabetes management easier.
