Gloves that let CPR continue during defibrillation could save more lives
NCT ID NCT07299188
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether doctors wearing electrically insulated gloves can keep doing chest compressions without stopping while a defibrillator delivers a shock. Normally, CPR must pause during defibrillation to avoid shocking the rescuer. The goal is to see if uninterrupted compressions help more patients survive cardiac arrest with better outcomes. The study involves 32 adults with shockable heart rhythms and will first test the method on a manikin for safety.
