Brain scans reveal Schizophrenia's secrets when meds are paused

NCT ID NCT00001247

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at how the brain works in people with schizophrenia when they are not taking medication. Researchers used brain scans and tests to separate the effects of the illness from the effects of the drugs. Participants stayed in the hospital for safety while their medication was briefly stopped. The goal was to better understand the biology of schizophrenia, not to test a new treatment.
