Gum disease breakthrough? new injection shows promise in small trial

NCT ID NCT07375004

First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding an injection made from the patient's own blood (i-PRF) to standard deep cleaning helps treat gum disease better than cleaning alone. Thirteen adults with moderate gum disease participated, with each person receiving the extra injection on one side of the mouth and standard care on the other. Researchers measured gum pocket depth, gum attachment, and bacteria levels at 1 and 3 months after treatment.
