First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving inhaled nitric oxide during heart surgery can prevent acute kidney injury (AKI) in 330 high-risk patients. AKI is a common and serious complication with no current prevention. Participants receive either the gas or a placebo during surgery and are monitored for 90 days to see if their kidneys stay healthier.
