Sinking smiles: new study probes why dental implants lose their look

NCT ID NCT07593131

First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at people who have a single dental implant in the front of the upper jaw. Over time, the implant crown may appear to sink compared to natural teeth, a problem called infraposition. The goal is to find out how often this happens, what factors (like age or dental history) increase the risk, and how it affects appearance from both the patient's and dentist's point of view. Researchers will follow 60 participants and use digital scans to track changes.
