Immune booster shows promise in tough pancreatic cancer trial

NCT ID NCT02077881

First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested an experimental drug called indoximod, which aims to boost the immune system, together with standard chemotherapy for people with metastatic pancreatic cancer (cancer that has spread). The trial involved 157 adults and had two parts: first to find the safest dose, then to see if the combination helped people live longer. While the treatment may help control the disease, it is not a cure, and patients continue standard cancer management.
