First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking a killed form of a common gut bacterium (Bacteroides fragilis) can prevent diarrhea caused by chemotherapy. About 200 adults with cancer who are about to start certain chemotherapy drugs will be randomly assigned to receive the bacterium or a placebo. The goal is to see if this approach reduces the number of people who get diarrhea and how severe it is.
