First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether a pop-up alert in the electronic medical record could help doctors remember to refer patients with fatty liver disease (NASH) to a liver specialist. Thirty doctors from internal medicine, family medicine, and endocrinology took part. The goal was to see if the alert increased the number of appropriate referrals.
