New combo attack on lung cancer: immunotherapy plus local ablative treatments aim to extend lives

NCT ID NCT06840782

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 39 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding local ablative treatments (like radiation or heat to destroy tumors) to standard first-line immunotherapy can help people with oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer live longer. About 124 adults whose cancer has spread to up to 5 spots in up to 3 organs will be randomly assigned to receive either immunotherapy alone or immunotherapy plus local ablative therapy. The main goal is to see if the combination improves overall survival.
