Summary
This study looks at why some critically ill patients develop severe fungal infections after abdominal surgery while others do not. Researchers will measure a specific immune marker (HLA-DR) in 100 ICU patients to compare immune function between those with fungal versus bacterial infections. The goal is to better understand the immune system's role and find ways to identify high-risk patients earlier.
