Does the Body's immune reaction to spine surgery differ by scoliosis type?
NCT ID NCT07734467
First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study investigates whether children and adults with neuromuscular scoliosis have a stronger immune response after spinal fusion surgery compared to those with idiopathic scoliosis. Researchers will analyze blood samples taken before and after surgery to measure immune markers. The goal is to understand why patients with neuromuscular scoliosis often need more fluids during recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If differences in immune response are found, it could lead to better understanding of why some patients need more fluid during surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small observational study, so results may not apply to all patients. It only looks at biomarkers, not direct outcomes.
