Scientists test scans to spot cancer before it strikes

NCT ID NCT01237054

Summary

This study aimed to test and compare three different types of advanced imaging scans to see if they could better detect when early, pre-cancerous blood conditions progress to full multiple myeloma. It enrolled 31 adults already diagnosed with either the pre-cancerous conditions (MGUS or SMM) or with active multiple myeloma. The goal was to gather knowledge, not to provide treatment, by seeing if the new scans could predict cancer risk more accurately than current methods.
