Glow-in-the-Dark dye could spot hidden artery danger
NCT ID NCT06957821
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special dye, called LUMISIGHT, can make inflammation in artery plaques visible after they are removed during surgery. Inflammation is a key driver of heart attacks and peripheral artery disease, but doctors currently lack a way to see it clearly. The study will compare artery tissue from 25 people who receive the dye before surgery to those who receive a saltwater placebo, to see if the dye glows more in inflamed areas.
