Ultrasound, CT, and MRI put to the test for identifying childhood neck lumps
NCT ID NCT07734805
First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 31, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study investigates how well different imaging methods—ultrasound, CT, and MRI—can identify the cause of neck swellings in children. Researchers will compare imaging results with the final diagnosis from biopsy, lab tests, or follow-up. The goal is to see if imaging can reliably diagnose conditions like cysts, infections, or tumors without surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors diagnose pediatric neck swellings more accurately using imaging alone, reducing the need for invasive biopsies.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study. Imaging may not always match the final diagnosis, and results may not apply to all types of neck swellings.
