Brain imaging may unlock secrets of lewy body dementia
NCT ID NCT00917709
First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study used special brain scans to look at two key chemical systems—acetylcholine and dopamine—in people with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Researchers wanted to see if differences in these systems could help explain the varied symptoms of DLB and improve diagnosis. The study included 34 participants: people with DLB and healthy volunteers. By understanding these brain changes, doctors may one day better identify and classify subtypes of this challenging disease.
