Cell shot could curb leakage in moms after birth injuries

NCT ID NCT05776277

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests a single injection of muscle cells (iltamiocel) versus a placebo to reduce bowel leakage in women who have had chronic fecal incontinence for at least a year after an obstetric injury. About 200 women will take part, and the main goal is to see if the treatment cuts down on leakage episodes. The approach aims to strengthen the anal sphincter, but ongoing management may still be needed.
