Promising CLL combo trial halted early: what it means for patients

NCT ID NCT03708003

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested a two-drug combination (ibrutinib followed by ibrutinib plus venetoclax) in 30 adults with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) that had returned or stopped responding to prior treatment. The goal was to see if the drugs could clear the disease from the blood and bone marrow, allowing some patients to pause treatment. The trial was terminated early, so final results are limited.
