Simple drug review may prevent falls in seniors with low sodium
NCT ID NCT01212211
First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether reviewing and changing the medications of elderly people with mild low sodium (hyponatremia) could raise their sodium levels and reduce falls. Eighteen retirement home residents over 65 with low sodium took part. Half had their drugs reviewed by a pharmacologist, while the other half continued their usual treatment. The goal was to see if a medication change could safely improve sodium levels and balance within a month.
