Personalized coaching via smartphone could curb hypertension before it starts
NCT ID NCT07804420
First seen Sep 04, 2026 · Last updated Sep 17, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This trial tests whether a personalized health program delivered through a WeChat mini-program and community health workers can lower blood pressure in adults at high risk of developing hypertension. Researchers will enroll 500 adults aged 35 to 65 in Beijing who have a predicted hypertension risk above 20% but do not yet have the condition. Participants in the intervention group receive tailored education, behavioral goal setting, and tools like salt-restriction spoons, while the control group gets standard health education. The main goal is to see if the program reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to usual care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A personalized health management program delivered through a WeChat mini-program and community healthcare providers, including health education, behavioral goal setting, and blood pressure monitoring guidance.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could offer a scalable, low-cost way to prevent hypertension in high-risk adults, potentially reducing future heart disease and stroke.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is relatively small and community-based, so results may not apply broadly. Success depends on participants sticking with the program, and blood pressure changes may be modest.
