Oxygen boost after heart attack may limit damage, study seeks proof

NCT ID NCT04743245

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a special oxygen-rich treatment for 60 minutes right after standard artery-opening angioplasty can reduce heart damage and complications in people having a large front-wall heart attack. About 434 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the extra oxygen therapy or standard care alone. The goal is to see if this approach lowers the risk of death, repeat heart attack, bleeding, or heart failure over one year.
