Scientists uncover why we overeat junk food: It's not just taste
NCT ID NCT06017986
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at how ultra-processed foods (like packaged snacks) affect your body and brain compared to minimally processed foods (like whole fruits and vegetables). 57 healthy adults ate both types of meals while researchers measured blood sugar, insulin, and energy use. They also used brain scans to see how much people valued each food. The goal was to understand why we tend to overeat ultra-processed foods.
