Mountain air test: how does low oxygen stress the hearts of asthma patients?

NCT ID NCT07431580

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how the right side of the heart responds to low oxygen, like at high altitudes, in people with asthma. 18 adults with well-controlled asthma will breathe special gas mixtures that mimic altitudes of 2,500 and 4,000 meters. Researchers will measure heart function at rest and during light exercise to better understand the stress on the heart and how to support patients in the future.
