Home exercises may steady the steps of seniors with dizziness
NCT ID NCT07747376
First seen Aug 05, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot trial tests whether a home-based exercise program, paired with a self-guided education booklet, can help adults aged 60 and older who have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) with or without vestibular hypofunction. Participants are randomly assigned to either the home program or standard care, and they are followed for 20 weeks. The study focuses on feasibility and safety, while also exploring changes in balance, dizziness, and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Home-based exercise program combined with a self-managed education booklet
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a practical, low-cost home program to help older adults with vertigo improve balance and reduce fall risk.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study, so results may not be definitive. The program may be hard for some to follow, and benefits could vary.
