Summary
This completed study tested a van-based program in Baltimore that offered drug checking and HIV prevention medication (PrEP) to people who use drugs. What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could provide a practical way to lower HIV and overdose rates among people who use drugs in urban areas.
What could go wrong
The study is completed but results are not yet widely confirmed; the intervention was offered broadly, so individual impact is hard to measure. Real-world effectiveness may vary.
