New approach aims to stop HIV and overdoses after jail release

Summary
This study tests whether combining a long-acting HIV prevention shot with extended-release opioid addiction medication works better than daily pills for people transitioning from jail back to the community. Researchers will enroll 300 adults with opioid use disorder who are HIV-negative and about to be released. The goal is to prevent new HIV infections and support recovery by making treatment easier to stick with during this high-risk period.
