Tiny probe tracks antibiotics in hip joint to fight infection

NCT ID NCT07299591

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study uses a tiny probe called a microdialysis catheter to measure antibiotic levels directly inside the hip joint after surgery for a hip implant infection. The goal is to understand how well local antibiotics work and how they relate to infection-free recovery. About 30 adults having two-stage hip revision surgery will participate, with monitoring during their hospital stay and follow-up for 12 months.
