New nail for hip fractures under the microscope in senior patients

NCT ID NCT05197335

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study followed 206 elderly patients (65 and older) who had a hip fracture treated with a special metal nail called Chimaera. Researchers wanted to see how many patients needed a second surgery due to problems with the nail, and how well they recovered their ability to walk and manage pain. The goal was to gather real-world safety and effectiveness data after the device was already on the market.
