Hijab and heat: new study tests how headscarves affect exercise in hot weather
NCT ID NCT07174180
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at how wearing a hijab (headscarf and cloak) affects the body's ability to cool down during exercise in hot, dry conditions. Researchers will measure heat loss, body temperature, and comfort in 12 healthy young women as they do moderate exercise in a 40°C room. The goal is to understand if the hijab increases heat stress, which could help guide exercise recommendations for Muslim women.
