First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at 20 professional football players with low vitamin D. Half got a single huge dose of vitamin D (500,000 IU) and then played a game. The other half got a placebo. The goal was to see how the vitamin D levels changed in their blood. The high dose greatly increased vitamin D levels, and exercise also helped a little. No side effects were seen.
