Nerve blocks may ease pain after hernia surgery, study finds

NCT ID NCT07423910

First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (TAP and rectus sheath blocks) can help people recover better after open inguinal hernia surgery. About 200 adults having elective surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one of two nerve blocks, both, or a placebo. The main goal is to see if these blocks reduce the amount of pain medicine needed during and after surgery.
