First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding a small cut to a muscle in the anal area (lateral internal sphincterotomy) to standard hemorrhoid surgery helps reduce pain and bleeding after the operation. 120 adults with severe hemorrhoids (grade III or IV) took part. The goal was to see if this extra step improves short-term recovery.
