Do hemorrhoid patients really need numbing shots? new study questions routine practice

NCT ID NCT05519189

Summary

This study tested whether skipping anesthetic injections around the anus causes more pain after radiofrequency hemorrhoid treatment. Researchers compared pain levels in 134 adults who received either the standard anesthetic injection or no injection during their procedure. The goal was to see if avoiding the injection is just as good for pain control while eliminating injection-related risks.
