Painkiller injection before hemorrhoid procedure may be unnecessary
NCT ID NCT05519189
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a numbing injection around the anus is needed before a minimally invasive hemorrhoid treatment called radiofrequency. 134 adults having this procedure were split into two groups: one got the injection, one did not. The main goal was to see if pain after the procedure was similar without the injection, which could simplify care and avoid rare risks from the numbing medicine.
