First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked back at the medical records of 760 people in a Bangladeshi hospital to find out how many have inherited blood disorders called hemoglobinopathies. These disorders affect the protein that carries oxygen in red blood cells. Researchers used advanced lab tests to detect different types of hemoglobin and checked how these disorders relate to factors like age and sex. The goal was to better understand the local burden of these conditions to improve genetic counseling and public health planning.
