Simple support and a warm box could save tiny babies in ghana

NCT ID NCT06937580

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested a program to help mothers of low birth weight babies in Ghana practice kangaroo care—skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, and follow-up—which is proven to save lives. The program added peer support sessions and a box with warmth items like a hat, socks, and a temperature monitor. Researchers enrolled 328 mothers and measured how much skin-to-skin contact and exclusive breastfeeding happened at 7 and 28 days after leaving the hospital.
