Breathing treatment aims to smooth risky heart surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT05450328

Summary

This study is testing whether giving patients two inhaled drugs right before heart surgery can make it easier and safer to take them off the heart-lung bypass machine. It will involve 141 adults having planned heart surgery. Researchers will compare the outcomes of patients who receive the real drugs to those who receive a placebo to see if the treatment reduces complications.
