Heart surgeons test snip to stop Post-Op heart flutters
NCT ID NCT07492901
Summary
This study tested whether cutting a small ligament in the heart during bypass surgery could prevent a common and dangerous irregular heartbeat that often occurs after the operation. 220 patients at high risk for this complication were randomly assigned to have the standard bypass surgery or the standard surgery plus removal of this ligament. The goal was to see if this extra step was safe and reduced the number of patients who developed the irregular heartbeat in the first week after surgery.
