Heart stiffness measured during surgery: a new way to understand aortic stenosis?
NCT ID NCT04358692
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study measured how stiff the heart muscle is in people having surgery for aortic stenosis (a narrowed heart valve) compared to those having bypass surgery. Researchers used a special ultrasound technique called elastography directly on the heart during the operation. The goal was to learn if the extra pressure from aortic stenosis makes the heart stiffer, not to test a new treatment. 98 adults took part.
