New heart scan could save lives by pinpointing who really needs a defibrillator
NCT ID NCT01076660
Summary
This study aims to find better ways to predict who is at high risk for sudden cardiac death. Researchers will use detailed MRI scans of the heart in 400 patients with weakened heart function who are scheduled to get a defibrillator. The goal is to see if specific features seen on the scan, beyond just how well the heart pumps, can more accurately identify which patients will benefit most from the device.
