Heart CT prep: which drug slows your pulse quickest?
NCT ID NCT07268170
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests three common heart-rate-lowering drugs (metoprolol, atenolol, and ivabradine) to see which one works fastest before a cardiac CT scan. About 350 adults aged 30 to 80 with a resting heart rate above 65 beats per minute will take one of these pills, and researchers will measure how quickly their heart rate drops. The goal is to help doctors choose the best drug and dose for clear heart images.
