Summary
This study compares two mechanical devices that support the heart during complex, high-risk artery-opening procedures (stents) in patients with severe heart disease who are too risky for bypass surgery. Researchers want to see if a newer heart pump device (CorVad) causes fewer serious complications than the standard external heart-lung machine (VA-ECMO) while keeping patients stable. The trial involves 262 patients at multiple centers and measures outcomes like death, stroke, heart attack, bleeding, and hospital stays.
