MRI scans reveal secrets of heart energy in failure patients
NCT ID NCT00181259
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study uses a special MRI technique to measure the heart's energy levels without needles or biopsies. Researchers want to see if low energy in the heart muscle causes poor pumping in heart failure. About 500 adults—healthy volunteers and those with heart disease—will be scanned at rest and during stress. The goal is to better understand how heart metabolism changes in disease, not to test a new treatment.
