Diabetes drug may calm heart inflammation after stent surgery
NCT ID NCT07292909
Summary
This study is investigating whether empagliflozin, a medication typically used for diabetes, can reduce inflammation that occurs after a heart stent procedure. Researchers will give 100 patients with stable coronary artery disease either empagliflozin or a placebo pill for three days before their scheduled stent placement. They will measure inflammation markers before and after the procedure to see if the drug helps control the body's inflammatory response.
