Ambulance steroid shot aims to slash heart attack deaths

NCT ID NCT07478003

Summary

This large study is testing if giving a single, strong dose of a steroid (methylprednisolone) in the ambulance can save lives for people having a major type of heart attack (STEMI). The goal is to reduce the inflammation that damages the heart when blood flow is restored. Over 5,200 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the steroid or a placebo to see if it lowers the risk of death.
