Head up for easier tube insertion? new study tests simple position change

NCT ID NCT05671978

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at whether raising the head (head-elevated position) makes it easier to insert a breathing tube using a special video laryngoscope in patients whose neck movement was restricted to simulate a difficult airway. 182 adults having elective surgery took part. The researchers measured how long it took to insert the tube and how easy it was. The goal was to find a better way to manage difficult airways.
