Summary

This small pilot study tested whether adding gypenosides (a herbal supplement) to standard steroid treatment could help protect the eye's nerve layer in adults with a first episode of acute optic neuritis. Only 10 people enrolled, and the study was stopped early. The main goal was to measure nerve thickness in the back of the eye after 6 months.
