Scientists probe Gut's role in dangerous transplant complication
NCT ID NCT05186857
Summary
This study aims to understand if changes in a patient's gut bacteria and the chemicals they produce are linked to a serious complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a stem cell transplant. Researchers will collect stool and blood samples from 88 transplant patients and some of their donors over two years to analyze these connections. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help predict or prevent this complication, but this study itself does not test a treatment.
