First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested two surgical methods to rebuild the small triangle of gum between teeth (called the papilla) that can shrink and create a dark gap. Eighteen healthy adults aged 18–35 with gum loss received either a connective tissue graft (gum tissue from the roof of the mouth) or a tiny titanium insert placed into the bone. Researchers measured gum height, black triangle size, and healing at 1 and 3 months after surgery. The goal was to see which approach better restores the gum shape and improves appearance.
