New gum surgery combo shows promise for saving teeth from bone loss

Summary

This study tested a modified minimally invasive surgical technique (M-MIST) alone or combined with enamel matrix derivative and bone graft to treat isolated gum disease bone defects. 45 adults with deep gum pockets and bone loss participated. The goal was to see if adding these materials improved pocket depth and attachment levels compared to surgery alone.
